Okay so things I've tried:
the USB adaptor and the monitor work on another computer so it's not faulty
I've tried unplugging one of the monitors on my computer to see if it could only handle 3 but it would still not allow me to connect the USB one (as the third) so it's not an issue of whether it can handle a fourth monitor or not

King Atrhur:
I've tried uninstalling it and re-installing it and it doesn't seem to be working

Getting very frustrated, why can't shit just work

website for the DVI to USB converter isn't working coincidentally?

e/ now when I try to detect the fourth I'm getting "display not detected"
I'm about to just throw the fourth monitor at the wall and call it a fucking day

I would think it's the driver for the DVI --> USB thing.
Have you checked that, in Device Manager?

Yes thats what I figure it is as well. I've tried the "search for updates" and I've also tried uninstalling it and re-installing the driver but neither have worked

Since the site is down...maybe try a System Restore to before the problem started?

No. A System Restore pretty much keeps everything as is...just sets it back to w/e date you choose. It MAY help fix the driver problem.

The only things you lose are local files that have changed since the date you Restore to. Like a bookmark, or document that you saved after the Restore date.
Any game "patches" since the Rstore date will have to be re-done. But other than that...

/e It will only work if it's enabled. By default MS disabled it. (2015 news) ...it may have been enabled since then...who knows.

If it hasn't been re-enabled, then there will be no Restore points.

/ee IF yours is enabled...

Right-click (or press and hold) the Start button, and then select Control Panel.
Search Control Panel for Recovery.
Select Recovery > Open System Restore > Next.
Choose the restore point related to the problem or problematic app, driver, or update, and then select Next > Finish.

/eee IF System Restore is not enabled, then System Restore...just won't do anything...it won't hurt anything to check.

Wow. This is why I keep backups. :)

/e Don't lose any sleep over it. System Restore hardly ever fixes anything. :)

I would wait till the site is back up, and see what they have to say.

I take it, none of your monitors has display port? Cause your vid card has 2x DVI, HDMI and Display Port

No unfortunately they do not. three of the monitors are fairly old and only have DVI and VGA and the other one is a nicer one which I connect through HDMI

I appreciate your help man.

I would just get a DVI to Display Port adapter, or DVI to VGA adapter, and lose that DVI to USB thing. ^^

/e If I understand you correctly, you have been driving that monitor from a computer side USB port...that's just unholy.
