I'm pretty much steering away from this mobo at this point, great deal but then the CPU price is kinda making it look not worth it

That too. :)

Here is ASUS's warranty link...I quoted the important part...

https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/678/

This warranty applies only to products that are new on the date of purchase from an authorized ASUS product reseller.

...and that's just the easy part. If you read the whole thing, it's even harder than that.

I had to RMA an ASUS motherboard once. I bought it new, had the receipt, and even then it was trully very hard.
I even had to agree, that if anything happened to the motherboard, during return shipping, that I would be responsible.

In other words, they would hold me responsible for any damage that UPS, or FedEX would do to the package. ;)

I assume they have gotten ripped off so many times, they just decided to get serious.

/e Btw, I'm an ASUS fanboi. I own 5 ASUS motherboards.

/ee Also, Newegg U.S would never sell a motherboard with a broken fan header. The ONLY products they sell, other than new, are Open Box or Refurbished.

IMO, never buy a used motherboard. Everything in your computer runs off the motherboard.

this was also an open box, it was just missing the fan expansion, and original wire.

But I am looking at the ASUS 7170-Deluxe now basically the same thing but with a LGA1151 socket

As far as ASUS goes, their Deluxe motherboards are the good ones, which I'm sure you can tell by the price.

Best advice I can give you, is always by NEW motherboards. :)
