this. especially with a field as huge as upper level IT, it's pretty fucking easy to have connects.

this...

@op maybe start looking into being a consultant or doing your own thing?
can you specify exactly what your role was before and what your duties were.
like run me through a day at work before.

If your generic help desk then no shit... most generic help desk people tehse days read off a script.

I manage around 22 clients' IT infrastructures. Emails, servers, printers, networking, etc. I set them up, then solve problems as they come up. The person who owns the business is doing well and he's only paying me 30k :/

Thank you. Time to get a degree

I'm currently taking night classes, but it doesn't affect my work. Not much else I can do. I make A's. Classes are easy AF, but I still don't understand why there are so many core classes when I took a lot of this shit in high school.\

I work in a small business, so my contacts aren't easy to use since they know my boss so well.

It sucks in GA and I'm having a hard time finding a job.

4 years of IT Support (Network, Servers, End User support, cabling, audio/video production, etc) means nothing apparently.

Yes, they finally figured out that the entire IT Support industry was all just a hoax.

If possible, I'd say to grab a couple certifications while you're finishing school. There's that trifecta that employers look for, and usually experience trumps certs and degree, but those automated HR filters will drop you if you don't have those keywords in your resume.

yes lets take job/career advice from the one guy whos worked the least here.

@op I think you should confront you boss about more money.
Worst he can say is no but at the end of the day he's not going to fire you.
Costs more to hire a new guy then to give you a raise.

Best bet is branching out and working for yourself. Steal his clients... over them a lower rate.
Besides that move to where there is jobs if theres nothing around you.
