Hp pavilion desktop
Computer came with only vga port sadly it's an old comp

Does it have a PCI-E slot? If so, you could just buy a cheap GPU that doesn't require a power supply lead. GTX 750 Ti works good for transportation.

but also somewhat depends what hes using the pc for, and how old

if he does not game at all or just as much as diablo 2 , then sort of waste i guess

same if the pc is super old, like if the pc is worth as much as the gpu he would be getting, idk id question these 2 first

then again he could get new gpu and use it, but keep it when he decides to upgrade

/e If you happen to be one of those few ppl who have massive soldering experience, then I'm sure we could find a replacement. Otherwise, most folks would probably kill the motherboard trying to solder on a replacement VGA port.
