ya cos its a 2014; newer versions can also see 8.1 disks (and quite possibly usb booters as well although I don't own one so I wouldn't know)
I can't even use a usb based cd drive to boot; once my superdrive kicks the bucket this thing is pooched unless I can figure out some way to backup my partitions (tried gparted with the disk on another computer, 8 hours was unacceptable for the time i was working with but i might go back to it later)
