I did read what you wrote.  Its just funny that you don't think the market has already decided micro-transactions are acceptable.  I just took a flight that I had to pay $25 for my first checked bag, could buy a meal on board for ~$10, and could buy in-flight wi-fi for $5.  It wasn't that long ago all of those sans wi-fi were expected and included.  One of the most popular video games today (league of legends) survives by $5-10 skins and character purchases.  Whether or not windows 8 sells, is not going to stop them from finding how to make it work.  They know it is possible, and microsoft is more than willing to lose a product cycle or two trying to get the right fit.  Whether its Windows 8, 9, or 10,  the era of renting your copy of microsoft word for $1.50/mo, excel for $2, or the whole office package for $5 is closer than anyone really wants, but its there.

No the consumers decided micro transactions are ok...if you don't buy something...they can't sell it to you ^^

Consumers ARE the market.

I didn't buy an apple device until the most recent ipad. 5 years after the first iphone. I didn't buy into it, but it happened anyway. The windows battle is slightly different though. There are some serious contracts with PC manufacturers and its near impossible to buy a pre-built (like it or not but its the vast majority of sales) without a windows license. Vista is really a good example of a terrible product that bombed pretty hard, slap on a few changes rename it and its the second coming of jesus for microsoft aka windows 7. I won't be buying a windows 8 license. I won't be buying one at work. Like I did with xp, I'll be downgrading licenses for as long as I can. Windows 9 will be the game changer, 8 is just testing the water. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if microsoft thinks theres a few dollars to make with a more in your face store, its going to happen.

All the movies based on the future like Star Trek and Back to the Future are unrealistic I do wish to believe it will happen in the millenium. Last Aerospace flight was last year and NASA isn't going to aerospace. I saw a biographic film on that. :o

WOW, check this out....I pay $106/month for 35/35 FIOS internet and about 400 TV channels (of which only about 40 are worth watching)....that's $1,272/year....let's say Verizon only has 100,000 customers, (very conservative estimate)

That means that they take in... $127.2 million a year...remember that's just for 100,000 customers  LOL

I think that NO channel should NEED commercials for Verizon to stay afloat  ... LOL

are you including the cost of streaming that which is contracts with brodcasters n such? u do know that verison comcast etc dont put comercials on but the brodcasters rite? u should be going after them ... not the provider all they are doing is being the middle man nothing more

At a glance I was impressed with improvements in windows 8, but after trying the consumer preview, I wanted to eat a bullet.

The biggest problem? Microsoft keeps trying to reinvent the wheel with every aspect of their systems, and it results in more and more redundancy.
The best quote I've heard is "windows 8 has some nice elements to it, but it feels like one operating system trying to be two operating systems."

A lot of the edge based controls they have implemented are really, really annoying/needlessly complicated...for example, why do you need to drag and drop to close; the X button is a tried and true method that no one disagrees on. Its not like this is a feature that needed to be changed for tablets.

Windows needs to polish their existing system a LOT more instead of worrying about changing the UI in an innovative way.
Things like
-the seriously mangled file system
-the seriously mangled registry
-the lack of customization
-the purpose of the notification area

Windows 7 moved in a really good direction; it brought the interface more in line with industry standards...and it made it more tidy.

If I could change anything in windows 8 it would be to integrate things more cohesively.
(1) The old desktop should remain dominant, but the metro ui should come up in place of the desktop background when the windows key is pressed (similarly, the windows key should bring you to the desktop unless you have it disabled)
(2) The windows store should be opened up to old versions of windows.
(3) The side/corner features should be done away with entirely, and the old taskbar should remain dominant (although with no windows start button as it is now)
(4) Gestures/side touching/window manipulation options (in the corner of a window) should be more fully customizable

They just need to stop trying to be unique snowflakes, and start bringing their features into a more cohesive/polished state.
