I'd have to put some GT's, 26dba is not quiet in my books.
Thanks for the input, though.

you did say you valued performance above all else

but adding 2 better fans to the mugen 2 makes it that much better too

Isn't that for 775 only? Or would I have to buy a clip thing to make it work with 1156?

The newer model should support 1156. But if you can't find it sold anywhere, I'd say just go with the hyper 212+.
I get some amazing temps with it.

Comparing to stock cooler, hyper 212+ dropped temps on idle by 10c, load by 25-30c with a push pull setup.

Mugen scythe 2 outperforms the hyper 212+ and also supports a ridiculous amount of fans ( up to 4 fans ).
So that's my suggestion.

Nvm, right as I said that, I found a really good one. And that pretty much made up my mind. When I buy my new comp, I r get that, then eventually slap some GT AP12's or whatever the 16dba fans are. Sex.

Yeah, the thing is absolutely massive.
My brother has one on a overclocked propus. He gets around 44c load at 3.2ghz on the single stock fan. Of course that could be pushed much further.

Hm. The sheer size of it is a bit of a con, I suppose I should have thought of that earlier. Well, 212+ it is.
