Mobo asus x570
CPU Ryzen 7 5800x
Memory Corsair DDR4 32GB 3600mhz

I enable DOCP in Bios and it then sets voltage to 1.35 and speed to 3600mhz.

PC wont boot.

Turn off DOCP and manually put 3200mhz and PC boots fine.

I just switched my MOBO out today and I thought I had 3600mhz before not sure what I am doing wrong.

Any help would be cool. Thanks again.

hm not sure, looks like its compatible and runs at that speed, but to be honest i wouldn't be sweating too much about that loss either
pc wont boot if ram thinks it is mis-configured - basically if xmp/docp doesnt work then you have to manually over clock it by finding specs and testing stability each time (which to me isnt worth the hassle)

Manually adjust from 3600 with higher timings and/or voltage, slowly dropping them until it no longer boots.

3200mhz and 3600mhz not much of a difference? Is that why its not worth the time? Would like to get what is advertised out of them. I thought I was before the mobo swap.

Not much difference. You're not even sure it was running at that previously so hard to compare anyways

So first mobo I had to put the memory in slots 2&4. 1&3 would not fit because of CPU cooler fan. It ran 1799mhz dual channel so 3598mhz obviously.

After the MOBO swap and the CPU cooler fan adjustment I was able to fit 1&3 because i read thats where you should have your memory on this board for best performance.

Max is 3200mhz in slots 1&3. I just switched to slots 2&4 and DOCP enabled my computer booted and is running at 3598mhz.

I really cant find anything online explaining this. Just curious really about why. Dont really care if I have to use slots 2&4 but Id like to get 4 sticks eventually and would just like to know why 1&3 cant run at the same speed as 2&4.

Just strange and curiosity has me on this one.

that's why you always check the specs of your motherboard on the page before you buy your ram
example: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-crosshair/rog-crosshair-viii-extreme-model/helpdesk_qvl_memory/ (note the 'slots supported')
motherboards use configurations for memory, 'dual channel', which would be the higher speed channels, and 'quad channel', quad channel is not as high performance usually and the less sticks you use the more stable your ram will be

I guess I just figured memory is memory and it does work with the PC. Sorry for my lack of intelligence on this subject, still trying to learn.

So looking at the "tech specs" https://www.asus.com/us/motherboards-components/motherboards/tuf-gaming/tuf-gaming-x570-plus/techspec/ what exactly should I be looking at to figure out why 1&3 wont run at 3600mhz?
