Hey!

So I have a pair of headphones (sony WH1000-XM3) and I forgot my 3.5mm cable at my parents house during xmas.

Having no experience in these things, I was wondering what cable it is I need exactly? I can't use amazon/ebay because shipping prices are insane to my country for some reason (like twice the price of the wire itself).

I found this on amazon though: 4.9FT Cable: length: 4.9FT/1.5m, Gold plated 3.5mm L plug to 3.5mm jack.gold color. Cable body is TPE brushed design. Extremely soft and durable to use.

And I was wondering what 3.5mm L plug means? Is this just a normal 3.5mm plug with the L shape?

So I can basically get any 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable? or does the headphone jack have some sort of different 3.5mm connection than the PC jack

The L means that one end has an L shaped connector. Any 3.5mm cable with the correct ends (male or female) will work. Just make sure the 3.5mm jack itself has the proper number of rings around it. (like 1 ring or two rings), should be two ring iirc.

Just like in real life.

Just make sure the 3.5mm jack has the TWO black rings (well any color other than silver). The TWO rings mean stereo as opposed to mono.

It worked. For some reason the L plug didn't work in the headphones, just falls out, unlike the original cable. The normal 3.5mm plug stays in location though and works.

Well this is/was used to be an 1/8th inch connector also, which is .01 inches less than 3.5mm.
Without actual links to a product it's hard to tell. The black bands look a bit different on the L connector as well.

I miss the old 1/4 inch connector days....nothing fell out, with those. :)

/e Generally an L connector is just a "right angle connector" for places where there isn't room for a straight connector. or where a straight connector wouldn't "look" right. The right angle connector itself is usually identical to the straight connector, except that it's L shaped.

Why am I picturing a young Swedish girl, in traditional costume, with a tray of headphone cables, passing through the crowds of gamers handing out headphone cables. :D
