So atm i have a windows 10 computer but would like to be able to run in windows 7. A friend was telling me i could buy a new SSD install windows 7 on it and swap it with my old one but i honestly have no clue how to go about that. Any simple dummy proof guides any of y'all have used trying to do something like this?

i'd recommend sticking to win10.. however

step 1: get urself a dvd or usb with windows 7 on it

step 2: go into bios and boot from dvd or usb (where u have the windows installer)

step 3: follow the step by step install and install on new ssd

Why win7? Should only be used if u have compatibility issues in win10.
I don't recommend win7

Support for Win 7 stops... January 2020. If you're a business you can purchase 3 more years of support at that time.

/e @OP you can set it up to dual boot Win 10 and Win 7. https://www.pagestart.com/win10dbwin702021601.html

=/= not the same unfortunately. For some reason windows 7 runs smoother transitions than 10 to a point where it noticably adds minutes to your gametimes

Be careful trying to downgrade from windows 10 with windows 7 via bootable usb. Evidently some pc’s are locked to windows 10 and will not allow you to run an older os. I literally spent the past weekend trying to recover my ASUS laptop where I tried the above move to windows 7 and blue screened once I got to “windows is loading” after copying over the iso. Tried everything the internet had to offer, including messing with bios, couldn’t even get back into original windows 10 os, it was corrupted from my attempt to install 7 on same drive.

In the end, I used Microsoft’s official online media tool to download windows 10 iso onto a bootable usb and reinstalled windows 10 that way, not a single issue....sad. Really wanted 7 for how much faster it is.

Anyway, GL. Maybe the 2nd hard drive is the way to go.

disclaimer; I’m terrible with computers so my post may be obvious to most lol

Windows 10 engine is actually much faster than 7. Just gotta disable all the startup bloat (as with any windows os)
Also you wouldnt have that issue if you wiped the drive before you tried to install.
