I’m looking to purchase a new laptop very soon.
After days and days of researching, I finally have my heart set on one.
Unfortunately the model that I am able to get has a low quality screen.
I’ve researched the best I could to find out how to upgrade from 1080p to a 4K screen.
The laptop I’m referring to is the MSI gs63vr-252 (Best Buy model)

I’ve got very few answers, and they are contradicting each other.

My question is,

Is it possible to upgrade from a 30 pin connected screen to a 40 pin?

If it is, how difficult would it be?

I’m very new to working on computers of any type of you couldn’t already tell :)

Here, I upgraded it for you. :)

Btw, a 15.6" screen at 4K... everything will be microscopic. Most folk think a 27" screen at 4K makes everything too small.

Thank you,
The reason I was asking the question instead of just paying for the upgraded model is because of the price difference,
The link you shared has twice the hard drive size, which I don’t really need , and over 600$ more

Have you priced a 4K screen for an MSI laptop?

/e Just the screen.

The one I linked is $375 more than the one at best buy. That is what a 4K IPS screen is gonna cost.

I saw a 4K screen for less than 150$ that would fit perfectly, the Best Buy model is on sale right now for 1350$. If you look through their website though you might still find it priced at 1500+

Regardless of all of that I would just like to know if it is possible to upgrade the screen :)

It's probably a TN panel. Have you actually LOOKED at a 15.6" 4K panel in real life? I had a top of the line 24" 4K monitor...I had to send it back cause everything was far too tiny on the screen.

/e Like I said above... folks on here have sent back 27" 4K panels too, for the same reason.

There is another model right next to it in store, with 4K display that looked great I didn’t even notice anything being small. I’m going to go back and check it out again though for sure so thanks for telling me that

4k displays make no sense in a notebook. waste of money. i'd rather go for some coke and hookers with that spare money

I'm guessing that they have Windows turned up to full mag then. On a 15.6" screen at 4K, you wouldn't be able to read anything, and even gaming would be seriously tiny.
