I was given this tv monitor without a remote, and I can not seem to get it to display my ps4 or switch through hdmi both different cords and ports. It recognises it's there because the box that says it doesn't detect a display is gone but it is just a blank black screen. Also I can't seem to get a cheap universal remote I had to program to it. I tried resetting the setups but I need a remote to hit the ok button because the ones on the back of the screen don't do anything for that button.

Get a universal remote that is known to work with a Planar TV.

Or just contact Planar and get the remote that comes with it.

/e There should be a 3 or 4 digit number that is associated with the TV, and will allow the universal to work with it. But Planar will know the number.

Either way I would contact Planar. Have some good go sob story ready.

I have an old LG 37" and my Verizon remote does ALMOST everything for the TV.
Like it will let me change the inputs to the TV for example.

I did have to call Verizon Tech support to get them to help me set up the Verizon remote though.

I tried call and their 24hr tech support is only in like 8-4pm lol. I have the code the remote won't do anything for it. It's 11589 for a rca universal remote. And I did Google that and Amazon it and all I get is user manual b.s. which I've looked through for my solution

I know it's tough. I'm just tossing out ideas for you.

I once had a non flat screen TV given to me with no remote. I couldn't find one anywhere that worked with it. I took it apart, traced out the wiring, and just "wired" it to do what I wanted.

But that was a lot easier back in the day before everything went digital.

/e At least in your case, the TV is still on the market. So the manufacturer will probably have remotes...still.

So I got ahold of their support and they said the hdmi ports are bad. I call around local tv repair shops and they say the main board needs replaced but didn't want anything to do with it. I get ahold of the top rated tv repair store and got someone very knowledgeable. He said that the tv is about 4 years old and the devices I'm trying to run, run to fast for the microprocessor that controls the auto scan of 720 or 1080p so I'm pretty much sol with this tv which is a shame because it retailed new for 3500 but was made to be a store display screen.

Either way I can't find any spare main boards. And it was working before I was given it and that was like a 1 week span of not being used so idk
