Im pulling apart a old gtx 550, thats been over worked and used, (DUST OUT THE ASS) when i pulled it apart, the thermal pads are not whole anymore.. i was told i can't replace them with thermal paste... so what size pads do i need?

and best place to buy from

why the hell not just make sure you use enough and everything that needs cooling the die the vrm's the vram etc are going to spread it against the heatsink

No. Use thermal pads.

You'll need thermal pads to bridge the gap between the heatsink and the VRMs. I'm guessing you need 1.5 mm thick. Just cut the pads to the shape you need and reapply. Easy really.

use enough paste and you can close the gap too that's why i said make sure it's enough really glob that shit on there like A1 sauce

Or just buy thermal pads, be safe, do it right, and not fry the GPU.

I bought some hella nice thermal pads for my 7970s back in the day when I put water blocks on them. Not too expensive. Still have extra Tpads left.

Is there such thing as too thick? On thr pads

The thicker the pad the less efficiently it works. The object is to get pads that are as this as possible, but still compress when installed.
They come in .5mm, mm, and 1.5mm.
