I used to play Diablo 2 on an old Dimension 5150. That computer was made in 2005 and I never had an issue with it once for nearly 10 years.

I bought an Acer Aspire V3-572 two years ago and can barely play D2 on it. When I teleport with my sorceress it lags beyond belief - joining a full baal run is absolute insanity as the framerate must drop to 1 and it is beyond playable.

The processor is an i7-4510U 2.0Ghz and it has integrated graphics (which shouldn't matter). I would assume that a laptop bought in 2014 should be able to run a game from 2000 but is there a chance this processor is that shitty?

Trying to wrap my head around making the game playable and if it's even possible to do so.

Thanks.

Even with glide wrapper installed and playing in windowed mode it's still seriously terrible. Huge FPS drops in crowded areas. Really not sure what is wrong - I find it hard to believe this laptop can't handle D2 at it's worst...

Yes. Still massive FPS drops.

Confirmed in game with /fps, it tells you that it is in Glide. Also confirms that I go from 150-200 FPS in town and when there is a lot of stuff on the screen it drops to 5

Windows 10

I made a better posting about my issue on the blizzard forums

https://us.battle.net/forums/en/bnet/topic/20757707002#1

It may just be that the laptop can't run the game efficiently in congested areas.
