Will something like this work if I want to use my left pc monitor as my PS4 monitor?

Like

HDMI from pc > hdmi switch > monitor/ps4?

Or am I dumb and would that mess up my pc display settings?

You're looking for an HDMI Repeater, although a switch will work just fine for the distance you're dealing with here.

they're virtually the same device.. cept repeaters usually just support one in and out cable so are often cheaper than switches, and sometimes boost the signal via external power for long distance hdmi outputs..

Just hook up your left monitor to the ps4, what are you trying to do here, hook both your pc and ps4 up to the monitor somehow?

idk, maybe what im looking to do isnt possible, or maybe im just not explaining it right lol

I want to have my left monitor hooked up to 2 sources (gpu in pc, and ps4) without having to change any settings or messing any settings up on my pc, as my left monitor is my main with all my icons and shit.

Maybe you don't understand the concept of multiple inputs

You want a switch not a repeater.
A repeater is for extending a signal as well as displaying teh same image across multiple displays.
You want to have 2 devices share a monitor. Same as KVM switch but for a monitor.

enjoy
