Yep, they went up about 6-8 months ago when all the RAM prices went up. :/

you'll have to wait til everyone moves on to liquid state storage then because they aren't going to suddenly stop buying ssd's otherwise

On top of that there's also a growing shortage in silicon wafers, and these aren't exactly a renewable resource. The only thing we can hope for is that some new tech happens that increases density immensely to bring prices down but that's always a double edged sword, we've been using the current techniques and fabs to produce nand for so long because they've been making it so long that they has good yields. Being able to fit 10x more data on the same amount of wafer is as good as useless if your yields go down 90%, so there's little incentive to pour into r&d right now. xpoint wasn't aimed at consumers.

Samsung blames high RAM and SSD prices on incidents like power failures in their factories.

IMO, after the HDD price hike due to tsunami in the far east, about 2 years ago, other companies decided to jump on the gravy train. If there is ANY way to blame prices on factory problems...or even just make it up, they will do it.

Well I just went and bought a 850 evo 250gb from best buy, they have it for 99 right now. I tried to use the Windows 10 media creation tool so I can install my OS on it but it just tells me there's not enough space and I need 8gb free space on C drive :|

you dont use that on the ssd, put it on a usb stick.
Then insert stick to boot up with, install the OS on your ssd.
