Ill try to keep this short;
Yesterday we lost power for several hours. Upon power returning one of the pcs in household would turn on for about 5 seconds and then reboot over and over and over again.
I checked power supply, ram, cmos, hd, monitor and each cable. All work fine on my personal pc.

after pulling everything out and cleaning and reseating everything the pc now turns on and stays on. but there is no signal to the monitor, monitor will turn on and flash through hdmi, vga and then say no signal and go into sleep mode.

So i figure maybe something wrong with the on board graphic, I don't have a graphics card to try putting in to test if that works, but I do have another unused win 7 PC, so I take the HD out of the first pc and hook it up on the older PC, pc turns on but same problem with the display. the win7 pc is connected via vga cable. Both the vga and hdmi cables work on my personal PC. I even brought the other pcs and connected them to my personal pc's monitor since I know it works and nothing.

I am at a total loss at this point, what are the odds that both have non-working on-board video? Should I try to pickup a cheap GPU and see if that works? The win 7 pc has been in storage since my grandfather passed away two years ago, it was fully functioning when put away.

Any ideas?

You know the parts work individually supposedly never said you got a display with them all connected


Yeah I read it as gpu is bad.

Besically the mobos are probably fucked

I can probably get like a $40 gpu here in two days, should theoretically work even if the on-board video is bunk?
Its a business computer, so no worry about gaming etc, but its got all our files on it and is used daily.

No I dont think the gpu thing will work. Better off replacing mobo

eh mobos for lga 1155 are expensive as fuck now
pc didnt turn on automatically when power came on, sorry if that was a bit ambiguous (dont think any pc would turn out automatically after having power cut from it anyway?)
it was not on when power went off either.

surge protectors really dont protect anything

how long is you pull cmos battery?

did it once for 10 mins and then another time for 1 hour after I read it can take 30 mins.
also tried using the reset jack on the mobo
I also put in a fresh battery I picked up just in case it was low.

I would re-seat the RAM, making sure you get all the dust out of the slots. Use a small artists paintbrush.
