i had a few questions about over clocking?

what are the benefits to it?
can it be harmful?

i have an AMDfx8350 unlocked CPU- base clock 4.0 ghz

when is it necessary to OC?
i see that i can OC my ram. why would that be needed? what does it do? i have 8gb ram base clock 1300 mhz ( thing its vengence )

i also have an EVGA Geforce Gtx 1060 6gb. base clock 1635 Boost 1878. is there a need to OC the card? can it be?

im new to this stuff and just want to understand it.

Benefits only come into play with cpu intensive tasks (duh)

For example playing a game while streaming

Or rendering.

If you keep your chip at stock voltage it is relatively harmless. You can get a minor overclock without upping the voltage at all

The consensus of overclocking is that any reduction in life expectancy is irrelevant because the hardware will be upgraded by then.

That is, a modest overclock.

apparently my system bottlenecks 9% due to the 7200k rpm drive.

lol

Lol my 4790k is bottlenecking my 970s by 17%. Never seen my cpu above 60% when gaming that with 95%+ load on each card

Recommend is an 6950x!

I have a 1070 and 6700k and it said 4% bottleneck... so not bad? Nothing I do runs my processor to 100%, though...
