I purchased a Asus laptop in June of 2014, ASUS ROG G750JM to be exact. About a year after owning this laptop the screen stopped responding, the laptop was clearly on and functioning but I was getting a black screen.

I went through all the drivers/updates etc thinking maybe something was missing and came up empty. I ended up purchasing a replacement screen off of Ebay and swapped it out and still got nothing. While installing the screen I did seem to get a little bit of response if I moved the cord running to the monitor a little bit but not enough for me to think the cord was bad, I checked the connections on both ends and they are both good.

Any suggestions? :(

I don't think you know just how thin the wires are in that cable.
Personally won't even bother trying to fix a damaged cable and I'm like the cheapest fuck around here.
The stupid wires like to melt long before my lead solder even starts to melt.

If the cable is doing what you claim I'd bet dimes to dollars the cables fucked up.

I would agree, I don't think I know how thin they are.

hahah i was like wait does he not realize what he said

maybe gpu is dead and your integrated gpu on the cpu is taking over?
is gaming performance crippled when you use an external monitor?

seems to straight up be an issue with the monitor itself then

odd considering you took the time to replace it

Solution... duct tape a PC monitor to the laptop & carry it around with you.
