so... if a ram is said to be compatible with intel z170 platform, is it also compatible with intel z270 platform? or are the 2 platform different for ram?

thanks ^^ wanted to be really really sure i know it might sound like a completely stupid question but this ram is much cheaper than any other 2x16gb deal and has good reviews and all... and it specified z170 but not z270 so i thought maybe that was why it was cheaper idk lol thanks ! (i guess its because its the lowest frequency ddr4 or idk)

oh i don't ? i thought that since i'll be running anywhere between 8 and 12virtual machines on that pc each needing around 2.2gb of ram each it could total over 24gb of ram including the operating system processes etc, my bad what do you suggest? 16gb?

i know for a fact that 16gb wont be enought so id have started with 24... then prolly upgrade to 32 meh idk im saving myself the hassle and that ram was pretty damn cheap like realllyyy cheap

you gotta keep in mind my vms right now need 2.2gb or so or ram each, and ill have a minimum of 8 of them plus the operating system and crap on host prolly take 2gb or some crap not rly sure so even with only 8vm it would all add up to like 18-20gb (bare minimum that the cpu can handle i have a friend running the same vms for the same purpose and he run 8 on a 3770 or something like that, not even the unlocked 'K' version so i expect my 7700k to allow more vm than his (hes bottlenecked by the cpu at 8vm on his rig)
