No Sound On New Pc Mystery - Topic

Whats up guys.
I've got this pc with an Asus M5a78L-M USB 3 and an Fx 6300 with a Gtx 960.
The sound works fine on the board. However, no sound comes through when I use the HDMI on the GPU.
I am suspecting it has to do with this mystery piece of hardware in the screenshot.

Things to consider...that I've considered:
Fresh install of windows. I had previously installed windows and done all the updates as well but because that was like a week ago I ended up reinstalling last night.
I have reinstalled Graphics drivers.
I have changed the output sounds to match the proper output settings - and nothing.
Reinstalled Audio Drivers
Disabled Audio Drivers so that only Nvidia Audio drivers are enabled.
I tried a Different graphics card.

Does anyone know any possible solutions? I am pretty confused and never dealt with this issue before, T.T

I really think its that "unknown device" but I have no idea what it is. I have installed every single driver pertaining to this board aside from the Sata drivers.

Spooky.
Re install GFX drivers.
Make sure you change audio output to HDMI.

Assuming you mean this, yes. Ignore the speakers selection. I needed sound (to test the onboard audio) so I was using those speakers temporarily. When trying the GPU i had it set as default.

Does the Unknown device have a hardware ID?
Right click select properties>
Select details tab>
Under property drop down menu select hardware IDs

Post top line here or google it.

Use your original mobo cd to install drivers from then update after from asus site that will resolve that matter.
As for the sound issue I'll think about it some but atm real busy.

Yeah that's not related to my sound issue now, so its not much of a priority.
I'm gonna try doing windows updates and see if it that solves it, but im not hopeful.

Well tbh we don't know that were just assuming so as it would be logical.
