I am looking to stop the screen tearing. I have a gtx 970 on an old dell monitor I've had for about 5 or so years. L9oking for a decent gsync vsync from my understanding. Looking at a decent price. Top price is 250 if i could and hopefully bigger than 21in. Not sure what I'm looking for in a monitor though

Turn on Vsync in your games / Nvidia control panel. It will get rid of the tearing.

Vsync is a software setting that caps your frame rate at the maximum refresh rate of your monitor (Guessing 60hz, So 60fps)

Tearing typically happens when your framerate surpasses your monitors refresh rate, AKA 100fps on a 60hz monitor.

The monitor hardware is called Gsync (For nvidia), It does the opposite of Vsync, With Gsync the monitor refresh rate (Within 30hz-60hz or 30hz-144hz depending on monitor) Changes to match the current framerate. So if you're playing at 50fps your monitor is at 50hz to match it.

Gsync is great for 1440p/4k monitors, But is a waste for 1080p IMO

Depends if you want a 144hz or 60hz monitor.

It really depends.

For competitive FPS gaming, You want high refresh rate, low response time.

For other types of games / movies/etc. Typically 60hz IPS is the choice, because of better color & viewing angles.

I could only see viewing angle as a thing if you Use it in bedroom for movies and can't turn it
