Hey guys
I've been using 4 monitors on my computer for the longest time, and out of nowhere one of them stopped working, and now a second has completely stopped working. When I go to extend I get the error message "the display settings could not be saved. please try a different combination of dislay settings"

additional info:
windows 10
two connected by dvi into graphics card
one connected by hdmi into graphics card
one connected in a dvi to USB device thing --> https://www.amazon.ca/MyGica-UShow-Display-Adaptor-Conver/dp/B004AFZFF6

Any help greatly appreciated!

It would help if we had some more info....

Get SPECCY here: http://www.piriform.com/speccy/download
...get the FREE version from the: Piriform Link
...Speccy is a really nice system hardware/temperature, information Utility.
...simply install it...and run the program...then post a screen shot of the main page of the program, when posting a problem/question on these forums.

...and please list your power supply make/model as well.

already tried updating my drivers

asus r9270 dc2 series graphics card
gigabyte 970a - d3p motherboard
650 80plus gold power supply
fx 8320e amd fx 8 core processor

I'm not gaming, I'm using it for internet browsing as well as my trading platform which shouldn't be too hard on the system

I just don't understand how it has been working for months and randomly it cuts out. It recognized the monitor but won't extend to it

It could be a lot of things. A bad Windows Update, cables going bad, video card getting old and sickly, a driver issue.

Driving four monitors with an R9 270? That's a lot of work for a 270. It's the amount of pixels you are pushing, not what the pixels are showing. Could also be that "thingy" going bad.

I guess it could also just be the monitors. have you checked to make sure they are still set on the correct inputs?

If you have kids...suspect anything and everything.

The reason I asked for the Speccy screenshot was to see your temps. Temps can a lot of times be an indication of where a problem may lie.

One thing that hasn't seemed to change. Vid cards, get HOT before they start to die, when overworked. (Granted, gaming is harder than browsing)

/e Considering how long you ran 4 monitors on the one lonely R9 270...it COULD be just a software problem. But ya never know.

The way to check the software, is to reinstall, or restore from a backup. (software is windows and drivers, not just drivers)
The way to check the vid card, is to put it in a different comp and stress it...or to put a more powerful vid card in your 4 monitor setup.
Cables...just swap them out.

Settings...triple check them all.

Might wanna just stress your vid card, right where it is. With just the two monitors. See if it starts to get wimpy on you.

One of the monitors is connected into a USB port through the one connector so would that still be stressing the graphics card? Sorry I'm not all that knowledgeable on these topics
