what should i do?

trying to make wifi signal stronger and better over a further distance.

the wifi signal was awesome for first few days of new service. but then it all of a sudden took a shit and has been going from okay signal to shitty signal throughout the day

so i want to change the channel on the wifi. but wondering what sort of software have u guys used to check for the channels in use by neighbors and such? ill be using the 2.4 ghz , not 5ghz.

this looks legit?

also ive heard i should try going to QOS tab and disbling the WMM setting. ive heard WMM should make wifi more efficient, yet some people say it helps them when they disable it?

im about to start messing with these settings, but wondering what ur opinions are on this. thanks.

ok thanks i did download one a few days ago called "wifi analyzer"

i didnt realize it had the channels on it. it shows a curve like a parabola over numbers and i guess im overlapped with a neighbors. looks like my curve it from 7.5 to 13. and the neighbors is from 6.5 to 11.5

but theres 6 total, including my own. and they start at channel 1 all the way to 13.5..... lol theres no fking spaces for new channels...

Welcome to the unregulated commercialized wifi spectrum. You now share the spectrum with wifi routers, wifi video cameras, wifi connected devices (phones laptops), wifi spectrum hobby toys (drones, boats, rc cars), wifi video game controllers, and so on and so forth.

The only way to get better signal is to upgrade your gear so that you can out perform the surrounding noise.

Or wrap your entire house in tin foil so that no outside noise can get it.

As for software:

On windows:
-net stumbler

On Linux:
airodump-ng

the fk... it now looks like the wifi analyzer app is showing 6 different wifi connections in the area.....

but every so often theres like 4 extra connections that pop up lol..... wtf

so anywhere from 6 to 10 different connections are probably causing a clusterfk in my area?

Wifi networks come and go. Each router sends out a probe stating that there is an accesspoint near by, and then your phone can read it and/or respond to it. But this only ever happens on one channel.

This means to cover all 14 channels your phone must rotate which channel it is listening on, and since all the routers send the probes at different timing intervals it is very common to miss a majority of these probes stating which access points are in the area.

We already told you how to fix this in another thread, but it seems you haven't listened.

Go figure out which antenna connections your router uses (likely RP-SMA) and buy higher gain antennas, or a better router.
