Make a System Restore Point. Get "Display Driver Uninstaller" here:

DOWNLOAD Latest version HERE ...and download the latest version...9.3 (as of this post). Save it to your desktop.
3. Go here:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers ...get the latest driver and save IT to your desktop.
4. Double click DDU v9.3.exe to extract the Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) right on your desktop. It will put 4 files on your desktop.
5. Reboot into Safe Mode, then double click:
Display Driver Uninstaller.exe to run the uninstaller.
6. Choose NVIDIA by the top blue dot.
7. Choose the BIG button by the next lower ...blue dot.

DO NOT CHECK THE BOX BY THE LOWEST BLUE DOT.
9. THE PROGRAM WILL START RUNNING WHEN YOU CLICK THE BIG BUTTON BY THE MIDDLE BLUE DOT...wait for it to finish... screen may go black, but will come back...the
LOG box at the bottom will tell you when it is done.
10. Then reboot your computer, into Normal Mode. Screen will be all large and ugly...this is what we want.
11. Now it's time to install the new Nvidia driver. Just double click the Nvidia driver Icon...to start the driver install.
12. During the install choose: CUSTOM ...then ONLY install the Graphics driver, the HD Audio driver and the PhysX driver. UNCHECK everything else.
.....Then right underneath the check boxes, put a check mark in the box called: Perform a Clean Install.

Also during the latest Nvidia driver install, it will want to DL and install: .NET framework 4.0...so don't be surprised.13. The comp will want to reboot...if not...reboot it anyways. Then you will have the latest drivers installed correctly.
14. Now just re-open:
Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, and click the big button on lower right to reset Windows Update, to it's default setting. Now you can close:
Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, that's it, you're done

Display Driver Uninstaller.exe, that's it, you're done
