Reasons:

1. New motherboard is rock solid and has 5 year warranty
2. The new RAM is ...godly and has Lifetime warranty
3. The 965 Black Edition is definitely a C3 stepping.
4. The Hyper 212 EVO is better than my old CPU Cooler.
5. No one is EVER gonna talk me out of Zalman ZM STG2 Thermal Compound
6. I see no use for a system more powerful, at this point in time, even if I could afford it.
7. Maximum budget was $650.00

Coz If I went Intel...I'd have to skimp on RAM and mobo...to stay under budget...don't need A10, GTX580 can handle anything I would care to play. I only get this $650 once a year...that is only upgrade monie...so I bought to last a LOOOONG time...
I'll be able to get 4.0-4.2 Ghz outta the 965...that's plenty.

Oh, and I'm only gonna use 88GB of the 16GB RAM...and just save the other 8GB, in case I ever need it. I also have a GTX 280 I can drop in to handle PhysX chores if that becomes necessary.






...and I even BOUGHT a legit copy of Win 7 LOL

LOL ...I was gonna get Win 7 Pro...but the only thing it has over Home Premium is XP Mode, which I don't need coz I have XP Pro legit... Volume License copy :)

...also in 2014 or so...when AMD Steamroller comes out...I'll still be set with this Mobo :)

/e ...and yes it will drop into AM3+ socket...but this IS my very first mobo w/o an Nvidia chipset...it's also my 1st UEFI BIOS...I'm scurred :cry:

I don't want no stinking AMD IGP mixin in with my GTX 580 :/

Why the 955 >> 965? Barely going to see a difference IMO, I would have just picked up a FX if I was upgrading on the AMD side.
