Why only 32 inches? 32 inches is tiiiiiiny. 50" is a bedroom TV by my standards (well technically, I do use a 100" screen IN MY BEDROOM)

Anyways, can you please explain to me why you "definitely want LED"?

Plasma is vastly superior to LED in every conceivable way when it comes to picture quality.

Not only that, if you're looking for a cheap 32" you're better off going regular LCD with CCFL backlighting over the horrible edge-lit LED with terrible back bleeding and horrible screen uniformity.

------

So most importantly, set up a budget. Are you sure you only want 32 inches? at 32 inches the optimal viewing distance is 3.6 feet. So are you sitting 4 feet or less from your screen?

Recommended viewing distance from a 42" is 4.7 feet. I can definitely recommend the Panasonic UT50 as the best bang for buck TV on the market (second only to the ST50, but that's most likely too expensive and only comes in 50" or larger I think)

In my opinion, the only reason to get an LCD is for lower power consumption and the smaller screen sizes available. If you can fit a 42" in your setup, get a plasma. Samsung, LG, and Panasonic are all great brands, especially when it comes to plasmas.

i like the LED technology, and plasma is generally too big. a large tv in the bedroom is kind of rediculous. also, would like to keep it around or below 300 bucks. i found an IPS LED 32' 720p panasonic (TC-L32X5) that seems ok for $309, but i always seem to like the samsung picture better.

thanks for your advice though! i will consider a plasma...

If you absolutely must go for LCD/LED, then I advise you to stay away from Panasonic. Panasonic plasmas are the best TVs you can buy at almost any price range, from the entry level UT50 to the mid range ST50 and the flagship VT50.

However, their LED/LCDs are ABYSMAL. They aren't worthy of the Panasonic name on their bezel. So in that case, Samsung is your best bet.

I really don't think a 42" or 43" is too big for a bedroom, of course it all depends on the size of the room and how it is furnished, but still.

I personally won't touch Samsung, for all the problems I deal with from them on a daily basis. That said, they do have a decent picture. For quality of set, I'd go with a Sony LCD over Samsung.

Yes that is without a doubt the best buy at that price. Arguably the best value of ANY TV this year in fact. (the more expensive, mid range ST50 that only comes in 50+ rivals its performance/dollar ratio)

The "T" symbolizes that the TV is 3D capable, but I heard that the models without the 'T' have inferior panels as well. Not sure though.

In any case, the UT50 is worth the extra dollar, 3D or not. the 2D picture is astounding and the contrast ratio is actually as high as a high end LED TV because its black level is so deep. Full HD 1080p resolution, 3D capable, even has 2D to 3D conversion for what its worth and an inky black level for such a low price. What a TV.
