r u using xp on ur laptop/
if yes, what u need is just removing ur current drive and letting the windows recognise and intall the drive itself.

have u ever tried to find a driver urself?
he didnt mention what the problem he got there. if even u found a driver there, it wouldnt be likely to work either if the way i mentioned doesnt work.

what? slow down your not making much sense.

And yes i find drivers for other people on Dell.com all the time its not very hard.
Windows drivers are pretty bad. There old and they only use the ones they have tried them selves. And due to that there always outdated. Dell will have the propper drivers.

to make a long story short, i unistalled it b/c i was having some problems with the cd-rom, the dell person told me to unistall it, then re-install it. but when i try to re-install it, it tells me that the driver i have doesn't have a XP Logo?

and yes, i have XP.

dont worry about the XP logo. An XP logo means that it was certified by the XP team. These are teh same people who take over a year after the release of a driver to verify it is working properly.
