I really have a difficult time to pulling the trigger on some hardware "upgrades".
Going to upgrade from 12900k + 3080ti to something else. It's something to do with current hardware is purchased in my company. I've been using the system to much privately for it make sense anymore.
So instead of buying the current hardware myself from the company, I was like nah new new new.

Initial I was thinking of a budget of 1600$. But can stretch it a bit.
Looking to purchase stuff Tuesday.

1050$ RTX 4080 16GB
880$ 7900 XTX 24GB
170$ price difference. 7900 XTX technically is the more powerful card. But seems like they are pretty much equal over a large range of games.
Thing is DLSS doesn't run on AMD and RT is much more smooth on Nvidia's. Worth the extra cost in your opinion?
Nvidia's Drivers are generally faster with optimization for games?

700$ 7900X3D + X670 Aorus Elite AX
620$ 13700k + Z790 Aorus Elite AX
With only 80$ difference, 7900X3D generally winning by a couple of percentages in games and the lower power consumption. The AMD seems like the clear winner?

edit: damnit was supposed to post this in General Hardware subforum.

7900x3D + Nvidia

AMD supposed to get amazing GPU driver updates soon, but for now Nvidia takes the crown imo.

Gamers Nexus probably has the best hardware reviews to date and their conclusion is 13700k+7900 xtx. "Intel just runs better" and 4080 isn't justified. That being said, power consumption and ray tracing are factors but I've never thought about my electric bill. Microcenter also has that combo for 1625, but idk what manufacturer you'd go with for the xtx.

Can you link me to those statements from the tech jesus?
Sadly the electric prices are screwed here in EU with the war going on.

Depends on the type of load you'll be using the system for (gaming only or for work as well?).

CPU
AMD seems to be solid in the CPU space, with many of its Ryzen Threadrippers being run in datacenters if I'm not mistaken. Also for general gaming load the CPU is important but it's not the piece that makes or breaks the build.

GPU
AMD again seems solid in the gaming space and with lower prices across the board. They will also support their own version of DLSS soon so that should not factor in your selection. This choice also depends on the type of work you'll be doing. Even if you're not a programmer for example, you might want to run one of them fancy AI models on your machine, in the future. In that case you're stuck with NVidia since the card will need to support CUDA (NVidia proprietary tech). There's also a meme in some parts of the industry that AMD drivers a trash but I don't have multiple sources for this.

MoBo
Careful when choosing a motherboard. You need to check a few things to make sure it optimally supports the rest of the hardware. For example it needs to have PCIe ports for all your stuff (GPU, NVMe drive etc.) but also enough PCIe lanes so that all pieces of the hardware communicate simultaneously with the CPU.

Roneye, my buddy. Please provide your use cases. What are you planning to do with the setup? Is your setup limiting you on something?

Generally speaking:

Nvidia still dominates the gaming market, that's why you usually get very good drivers at the start of a game release, but you won't get huge improvements over time. In the past AMD has shown that they can't deliver the raw power on release of their graphic cards, but they improve a lot over time as they are getting better drivers.

Intel vs AMD at processors is much closer now, still Windows and co are more optimized on Intel, but since Ryzen a lot improved on AMD side and the 3XD are very good gaming CPUs.
