so fuckin' bad.
and i mean this as an avid listener of Electronic Dance Music.
Take for example the 'talented' Martin Garrix (yes, he's only 18) and study one of his undoubtedly popular songs.
For example
Martin Garrix: "Animals"
Flat, droning bass. Little 2-step shuffle. Catchy hook with delay and reverb. Into very open perfect authentic cadential (with the highest note being the root note) version of the same melody.
Then it goes into the famous drop which is much just an amalgamation of the same. Same droning, flat bass.
Having heard this song live at EDC in England this summer, I can say it is definitely catchy. Once. The first time you hear it. Then honestly I find it insulting that the producer feels it actually holds water.
Then again.. He wrote the melody at 14, the rest of the song at 16 and had the melody in his head by 12.
Personally I just think Big Room House, out of all the numerous better genres of EDM and even without the House genre itself, is the retarded little sister of them all.
I am not bashing anyone's tastes, merely the genre. If you do in fact LIKE Big Room House, please share your opinion because I am very curious.
Most people I know feel the same way as me and do not like BRH
