I decided on picking up a new hobby because i dont have tv or video games and need something to do.
Ive learned some of the basics on a cheap guitar in the past and i want to avoid having a really crap sounding guitar again because they just are not fun to play.
So any recommendations for good quality acoustic guitars at the $500 range are appreciated.
I dont care about looks, just sound quality. Not really interested in the acoustic/electric versions either because i dont think a lot of the ones in my budget sound good hooked up with the stock electronics.

Im currently looking at the Taylor 110 and Seagull S6 but i want more input on these and other guitars worth looking into so i can read more reviews and try more out.

Oh and im planning on buying "used" so more recommendations/advice is better!

Thanks.!

Seagull guitars are great, I bought one used and it needed a lot of cleanup, but the workmanship is excellent so it held up well. In your price range, you could probably also find a used Breedlove, their acoustics are among the best I've played. Ovation is the way to go if you want something with a neck that plays like an electric. Martin and Taylor are respectable makers, but I don't have much experience with them.

If your buying used, I'd check out a martin GP or a cutaway.. You can get a nice used model for around 500 give or take.

A seagull would be pretty sweet too.. I'm not to partial with Taylor just because the way they do their necks, and the resale value is garbage

Yeah, im really digging the Breedlove Passport C250, it just works perfect for gloomy music and i love the sound of it from what ive heard it play !!
If i found one at a good price i think i would pick it up without hesitation.

Yeah, i was looking into the Taylor 110, but it just sounds almost too bright or tingy for me. The plus however is that ive found a number of used 110's (maybe thats a bad thing too??)

I picked up a very nice manuel rodriguez for under 500 on e-b-a-y, original price over 2000.

It was a lucky buy, but you never know what you will find.

some of the alternative tonewoods are nice and cheaper i have a basswood guitar and it sounds very pretty for fingerstyle might wanna consider checking them out i seen many at a discounted price

Basswood. Affordable and abundant, basswood is particularly associated with mid-level or budget guitars. But basswood is a good tonewood by any standards, and it has been used by many high-end makers with excellent results. It is a very light and fairly soft wood, and it’s light in color, too, with minimal grain. Solid basswood bodies have a fat, but well-balanced tonality. There’s a muscular midrange, but also a certain softness and breathiness. On a well-made guitar, basswood can yield good dynamics and definition with enough grind to give the sound some oomph.
