Hello

I want to buy an upright piano and I've found a nice one on a local ads selling website.

It's a Cramer London if that helps, and is around 100 years old.
The ad says that all the keys work and I've seen photos and it looks in good condition

The piano costs £50 and with tuning and getting it moved will cost me around £250 total with is my budget.

My question is will this piano still have a good sound and will I get much playing time out of it you think?

And are there any pitfalls I'm unaware of buying a piano this cheap/old?

mom bought a piano that was ~50 years old. i'd recommend you bring someone who knows how to inspect them with you to get an estimate on any repairs cost.

The guy said all the key works and all it will need is a tuning, so I assume it needs no repairs.

personally, i'd ask him to lift the hood and take pics. he might not the piano player, so you dont know how much he knows.

I was offered a free one after a performance. Lots of ppl have one and are willing to give it away if you come get it. Which is very hard to do with 3 ppl and a good truck/trailer. Maybe you could try a craigslist post. I bet you get lots of results offering only $100

make sure all pedals work too, you wouldn't want a piano with a broken right pedal
