For Christmas my family got me this pedal :

it has:
High gain distortion circuit
Fasel inductor circuitry tuned to Slash's specs
18V operation
LEDs for distortion on/off and wah-wah on/off

I was wondering if anybody could give me a few tips to get used to using wah pedals, as I never ave before however I really like the way this sounds.

Just remember its not for keeping tempo. Many people new to wahs tend to just move the pedal like its tapping to keep tempo.
Aside from that just get creative, im sure some other people will have some real advice but just getting out there and finding some cool sounds is a start.
