Hi. I'm currently looking for a mixer and turntables. I already have a very good set of speakers (a pair of Klein & Hummel o410) and a very good sound card too of course. I want to be able to use my sound card with my mixer. Is there any way to keep my speakers plugged in the sound card, wire the sound card with a mixer, and have the turn tables plugged in the mixer?

This way I could still have the quality from my current sound card, right?

Thanks for helping!

...I presume you want to run your mixer through your PC?

If so, just depends on the sound card you have; whether it'll take the inputs from the line-out on your mixer.

Most mixers suitable for a DJ setup will use XLR and/or 1/4" outputs.

If your sound card *won't* take 1/4" or XLR, you'll need to see if you can find a converter to whatever kind of inputs your sound card takes.

Yes you're right, through my PC. My sound card has 1/4 outputs and mic/instrument XLR plugs.

So basically I need to look for a mixer with 1/4" output, get a male/male 1/4" cable, plug it in a 1/4" input plug in my sound card, and i'm done?

Thanks for the fast reply by the way.

Provided there's nothing special you need to do with your sound card, you should be good to go.

And np; happy to help. ^_^

Great :) By any chance, do you know of any mixer that doesn't have an internal sound card, if that even exists? The reason is, I could probably get the same value for cheaper?

Uh...

I'm not sure I entirely understand the question. If you mean "sound card" in the context of a sound card like you'd use on a PC, that's *most* mixers. Most that you'd use for this particular application, anyhow.

For what you're looking to do, you can probably get away with something like a two-channel mixer from Numark or Denon.

If budget is a concern, I'd suggest a Numark mixer; they're perfectly adequate for this kind of thing. Denon is nice, but they start getting a bit spendy.

Please, please, please, avoid Gemini products. They're the Hyundai / Kia of the DJ equipment world. :P
