I'm currently trying to find out wheter how is this ska subgenre is named or which groups actually play like this.
As you can hear, the bass is heavily marked and the guitar melody is much darker than the usual ska:



Obiously, don't take into account the 0:47-2:20 part.

Just sounds like Third-Wave Ska to me. :mellow:

As I understand it, you have your original Ska bands; Desmond Dekker, Prince Buster, The Skatalites, etc.

Second-Wave would be bands like Madness, The Selecter, The Specials, etc.

Third-Wave would be... well, pretty much everything else since. Reel Big Fish, Save Ferris, and so on.
