Hi,

I have been playing guitar for about 8 years now I think its time to change my instrument. I have been playing with an Ibanez GIO since the beginning, and I always loved the sound and the playability. Not to mention that its still in good condition considering the humongous amount of hours I played with it. For these reasons, I thought about staying with Ibanez as I get a new and much better guitar.

My post here is to ask you guys which guitar you would buy considering some requirements. First, the guitar has to be a 7 strings. I play a lot of progressive music that requires a 7 strings guitar, and I would really like to have this. Second, it has to have 24 frets. Third and final, it has to have a whammy bar. I do not have any requirements regarding the sound of the guitar for now as it can be discuss in here, nor for the brand (I stated I would like to stay with Ibanez, but I see no problem shopping else where). Overall, I am willing to pay around 2000$ dollars (dont be shy to post something that is a bit cheaper or more expensive, I just want this thread to be open for discussion).

I really want to get a new guitar, but there are so many that I dont know where to start from  . I am just hoping I can get some positive feedback from the community so I can make a better choice.

Thx :D

I don't know anything aobut 7 strings :P

But Ibanez seems to be pretty popular for those kinda guitars.

I personally have found Washburn to be of very good quality and at a very good price, but I don't know if they make 7 strings.

Shecter and Ibanez are really the front runners and you can't go wrong with their Advanced 7 strings.

I don't frankly think you are gonna make a wrong choice - you've been playing a good Ibanez for a while so you immediately know what feels good and bad in your hands.

Vouch the Ibanez. I have yet to play a Shecter.

e/ Oh, and check out the Seymour Duncan SH-10's. My buddy has these humbucks for the bridge pickup and it sounds gnarly. Well worth the 70$ imo.

Don't know much about Shecter, I will definitely look at some of their guitars in the next days.

Trying to find a sound sample to listen to the pick ups but my Youtube won't load any video lately :( Just read some review though and they seem real nice.

Thx for the reply everyone! Anyone else with any other tip? :D

Yeah, and this is just one of the bunch of Schecter guitars you should be looking at. I don't know why Schecter is such an uncommon name, it's a huge brand in metal - specifically in techincal metal - and IMO they are superior instruments to most Ibanez/Jackson guitars in the Advanced versions of guitars. I can't list a bunch of people that use them, but have a look at their ranges on some guitar websites.
