Hi, I am looking to buy a electric guitar for my friend. Considering I have no knowledge whatsoever in buying guitars, I would like your opinion on which one i should get

I'm planning to buy one from this website:
http://www.long-mcquade.com/departments/12/Guitars/Electric.htm
Only looking to spend around 100-200 $

I would appreciate to get some insight from you guys, that'd be great

This topic discussed at length what you are after and how to start

Again the usual applies, Yamaha/Fender/Washburn/Encore all very good starter brands.

Personally, I recommend an Acoustic rather than Electric - Costs less, and gives you an advantage over someone who only plays electric.

Pink Squier ftw (lollll) but in seriousness, that Epiphone Les Paul for $155 is a freakin bargain, that would be my recommendation off that site in electrics.

I forgot to mention that he's been playing acoustic for about 5-6 years now
Personally, I think he only likes the guitars from that store. He's been taking lessons from there and bought his guitars from that store :D

the jerryC version is a strat, fender (american deluxe or standard?)
the mattrach version is an ibanez (i don't know my ibanez as well as fender :/)
but i'd suggest not learning that as his first song. bending, tapping, diminished arpeggios, alternate speed picking, squealing...just to name a few. so much technique that isn't really viable on an acoustic

for that price range, i'd go with one of these: epiphone lp, epiphone sg, or the ibanez grx (trem bar is nice)
you might wanna consider the ibanez gio sa (this one has single coil pickups for more versatility, which is nice for the lower-distortion settings)
stay away from the squires

first off all ima u need to write in what kind of music u wanna learn to play ;)

if u like rock/metal and similar then i would suggest to buy u LTD or epiphone, even lowest for example ltd f-50 is ok for beginers.

washburns imo sux expecially at lower prices, so do yamaha

yea just buy a fender squire strat to start out with there are some packages that have the guitar the amp and other things for like 150-200 i would just start out with that and then once you get good you can always upgrade!

like something like this http://www.***.com/itm/Fender-Squier-Affinity-Strat-Starter-Pack-w-Amp-in-Red-/200782427611?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ebf90b5db#ht_2350wt_1396

no way, stay away from the squires. i used to have one and hated it. bad tone, bad wiring, bad pickups
this is coming from a person who plays almost exclusively fender

I also agree 99% - but the 1% is for the occasional squire that DOES play superbly. My uncle got a knock off Squire Telecaster from Japan, it plays better than my Korean Tele :o Such a lovely neck, a SUPERB sound clean or fuzzed up - the only thing i'd say is make sure the squire is setup first properly, and I would personally change the pickups straight away - some Seymor Duncans would go lovely.
