I'll be starting at Berklee this coming fall, just wondering if jsp has any other Berklee students! I'm going for voice (not sure what major just yet).

Everyone I know who went there is awesome. It's the most expensive (one of anyways) school because they have an excellent faculty and wicked resources. That doesn't mean it's the best school, but in the world of art and performance, what is "best?" If someone is going to come out of a school the "best" musician in the world, it doesn't matter what school they went to. It's the student that will determine how good or far they will go. The school can only provide you with an education. You will undoubtedly come out of that school with an excellent experience and be well educated upon your graduation.

On a side note, I think that school accepts pretty much anyone who is willing to pay. I got accepted without an audition. Never went though. I'm a real musician and can't afford school

Must not be everyone, the acceptance rate is about 35% which is not bad. The school is largely about the business and yes, it has great facilities, which is why I chose it.

35%?!?! That's pretty big. Humber College accepts 10-20 students out of 1000+ auditions per intrument. But the trade off is interesting when you go to a school with a wider acceptance range. Humber is cleeky and very competitve. From what I hear, Berklee has a fair amount of comradery. I admit, I'm jealous. I'd love to go to school for music for 4 years.

Yeah me too - I'm not one who does well with Education, but there is a reason that Berklee is one of the most renowned schools on the PLANET - and I have no doubt that the experience and knowledge after those 4 years would be invaluable.

Certainly there are much more selective and competitive programs, but that isn't really my deal and I haven't seen anything with as wide a possible area of study as Berklee.

It's not a small school, I think it's around 4300 students enrolled any given year. Many of them are international.
