I've been wanting to learn how to play the piano my whole life. I'm 23 now and have some free time. this is a good time to start! i will be teaching myself really, any tips will help but first things first. What piano should i buy?
I also wanna play oriental music so a piano with 1/4 notes capability would be good..
i want a full size one so 88 keys
i don't want it to take up a bunch of space, so I'm thinking about a digital piano. i can even use synthesis with it i guess.

Im looking at this piano for a good start, What do you think? http://www.guitarcenter.com/Williams-Allegro-88-Key-Digital-Piano-106063399-i1551911.gc
I'm on a 350-400 budget and i think this with a stand and some equipment will do.

also, any tips on how to start learning would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I recently bought the Yamaha P95 electric piano. It's pretty great. So is playing piano by the way! If you're starting from scratch you will have quite a hard time though. I guess youtube tutorials and the likes can be helpful, but you should really think about paying for lessons if you want to do any real progress.

when i started out, i had a grand piano
( well a medium sized one) id say i got it for 700, i really suggest that you go with a wooden piano for starters
i know its a hassle to move, and can take quite alot of space, and i dont know where you can get a grand piano for 700 anymore
but if you can find, one , i highly reccomend starting with it, electronic pianos are fine of course, theres nothing wrong with those, i bought one after we moved and sold my wooden piano to a neighbor, but there is a different feeling
to it, and i never shop online, when it comes to instruments, because i have to be there to have a feel for myself, but of course, your only willing to spend around 400 atm, then i suggest you go with yamaha, there are some things yamaha are actually good for
and its their pianos, you can never go wrong with them

If you don't want it to take up a bunch of space I recommend a Upright Piano. They will take up practically just as much as an electric one, only you can't really carry it around lol

I like wooden WAYYY more than electric. Just something about it that makes me want to play rather than it being a chore to learn.

IMO starting out yourself is the best way, especially if you want to save lots of money ^^ you can get really far by yourself. I made it onto advanced stuff like the Chopin ballades in just 2 years :)
i will say this though. a good piano will make you learn much faster! talking about acoustic.. i learned on a grand from the start, and now we got 2 new grands in the living room ^_^

save the money lessons and get a good piano, like Rushton stated above it doesn't really take up that much space :) then get a teacher after a year or two

if your new to being a musician, i imagine piano being the type of instrument that you can very quickly progress on, and you may need a teacher sooner than later, only because your playing will probably outrun you're knowledge of theory and things. if your just lookin to play for fun thats great, but i think with a piano you will probably need an instructor, or a good course within the first 6 months if you really go at it - luckily for you there is alot of sheet music out there for piano :P

play (easy pieces) of J.S Bach once you got the basics.
a (good) teacher is mandatory if you want quick progression
