I taught myself how to sing.

Takes years if you don't know the right techniques but if you can get a good vocal coach and learn the right techniques and find your voice you could be decent in 2-3 months.

First step is getting a vocal coach or just looking up videos on vocal tips and what not. Youtube has alot of vocal tips and lessons on it.

If you wanna teach yourself, you still gotta do research and look up tips and lessons. It will move you along alot faster than just singing however you want.

I would get a coach if were you, im not sure how expensive lessons are but in my opionion singing is one of the skillsets where its very important to have a tutor. Ive done quite a bit of reading about it because of learning to play by ear, and some people (like me) have trouble even matching a pitch, much less changing pitches accurately... If you werent brought up around choirs and singing alot or at least an instrument and scales, the whole singing idea will be foreign to you and without proper guidance you could do very poorly.

good luck with it

Kurt Cobain went out in the middle of the woods and screamed till he was hoarse. It strengthened his vocal chords.

Just sing along to the radio and listen to your ears man

aside from that being the stupidest thing ive ever heard

get a piano and start singing along with basic scales, you'll be able to find a piano site online - its also vital to record yourself while practicing like this if you want to gauge your progress.
thanks to YouTube you can find all sorts of vocal lessons from rad people. so thats your best bet.

That's completely and utterly retarded lol

You shouldn't be putting mass tension on your vocal cords.. it hurts them, doesn't help them.
