I bought a used drum kit because ive been wanting to learn drums for years now but never really got commited to it/getting a set.

Looking for good sites/videos on how to get started with basic beats etc

Is it important to know how to read music for drums?

Was messing around on them, deff alot harder than some people make it look haha

Thinking bout signing up for local drum lessons for a few months

gl with it m8 :P

im not sure what your into but it definetly cant hurt if your entirely new to drums to get (or download) some sort of beginners manual, like a "Learn and Master" type series for drumset to help you get started

/e I assume its like any other instrument and takes lots of practice/frustration to get good at, so just make sure u stick with it for 3months once a day before you evaluate how difficult it is or w/e, cause thats how you will make progress, daily practice over long periods of time when u really start to see you're getting better

My suggestion is it never hurts to have lessons, I've been playing drums for six years and still to this day take lessons once a month just to learn something new... practice... when your tired of playing... practice... play to songs once you get a good 4/4 down.

That realistic rock book looks awesome.

Here are some sites that i've stumbled on as a kid.

drummerworld.com
gospelchops.com

But really, with the overwhelming amount of tutorials on youtube, you could really just do some searches and start from there.
