Lately I've been on a tone and sustain kick and I'm trying out some new stuff and trying to improve my gear (and playing!)
Ive always used pretty light strings for the most part but I have tried some heavier gauge strings and although it wasnt as easy to play it is definitely adaptable. So basically I just want to know what sort of things should be considered when choosing strings. Wikipedia lists a good bit of info but its all analytical and nothing really describes sounds.
Do heavier gauged strings have more sustain?
Do any companies make strings other then just plain round-wound?
would a flat wound string be worth it?
etc
