So, I know absouletely nothing about bass guitars.

What would be a good price on a bass guitar? Along with durability? Needs to be decent.. And doesn't sound like poop.

Any rough estimates out there? Along with brands?

Also, how much does the amount of strings differ in them?

I'm a drummer, so I don't know much :)

Look for anything between $150 - $300.

Washburn / Fender / Ibanez are 3 makes I can think of immediately, but there are bassists in here with more brands

I don't understand your string queston - care to elaborate? ^_^

Thank you! Very much for the estimate.

And I looked online, and it's like; 4,5,6 string basses? I'm guessing they play different pitches. But the 4 strings were expensive. I'm kinda confused about it all.

IF you have a guitar play it like a bass.

If you want a bass stick with a 4 string and work your way up. Try them out before you by them. Everyone has a different pitch.

I definately do not recommend anything other than a 4 string for your first bass. You gotta understand the instrument before you can start taking it to the next level, or string in this case lol.

Well, it's not for me :p it's going to be a band bass. If that makes any sense. I can't even play guitar hero, let alone a actual guitar. Thank you so much with your help :) I apperciate it!

If your budget is around 300, I'd honestly hit up the Fender squire classic vibes, they sound surprisingly good. If its around 500 I'd prolly go for a Fender P Bass

My brother got a nice Fender Jaguar bass for about 300 dollars. Seems like a good starting bass if that's within your price range.
He got his new from Guitar Center, so you may be able to get a used one for even cheaper online or at a local guitar shop.
