I'm looking at a HT Club 40 as a second hand purchase, for playing in my bedroom and jamming with friends etc.

From the reviews I've seen they seem to be good quality for their price, with good sounds from clean to metal.

Does anyone have any experience with this brand of amps?

I've played a few that came through the store, and I can say they're pretty sweet. The amp is really similar to Marshall's Haze 40 which you should be able to find at any guitar center. You could always go play one of those to get a vague idea of what you're looking at. Alternately you could order one from guitar center and just return it if you don't like it
