I go to a technical school and have a senior project that I must do in order to pass my senior year. I take carpentry and I wanted to make a guitar. I'm going to make the body, neck, and fretboard on my own but I'm not sure where to find a guitar kit that has all the hardware such as pickups, frets, knobs, strings etc. I see all of these kits online but I can't find one that has just hardware, and a guitar body template. Can anyone help me find this?

I'll most likely just buy the hardware seperate and order the wood to make a custom shape of the body etc.

I do have a question though. Is the fretboard on a guitar all one piece or is the piece that connects to the neck and the body (the piece that has your palm on it, I'm having a dizzy moment so I cannot think of the name) seperate?

i think the neck is one piece of wood and the fredboard is a different piece of wood (mostly rosewood or maple)
glued on the neck

do you want to do a great guitar or should it just look as a guitar? :D

i havnt made a guitar myself but i think its hard and linked with much time you have to spend

Oh okay. I've seen a lot of videos of how-to's and custom guitar projects on youtube and some other sites so I have the general idea of how to do things. I know it's very time consuming, which is perfect, as it will keep me busy from 3rd to 4th quarter in shop / school. I have all of the proper tools / machines obviously, so the guitar will look great. I'm looking to make a REAL guitar. I want this thing to sound great when I play it in front of parents / teachers at my presentation at the end of the deadline for my senior project.

you can buy prewired pickguards on musiciansfriend.com (they're like $300 though)
