im looking to buy this.. i will ofc have the opportunity to try it out so that ill be sure it sounds nicer than the Martin DX1/DM models and the Taylor 110 i tried. My question though before I call the guy and drive 70 miles to check is what kind of damage does a crack cause an acoustic guitar, ive never had an old guitar so i know nothing about how damage affects them.

His listing looks like a steal to me though..so im worried it might be too good to be true. I could put that same guitar on eeeebay it seems and get 1000$ for it maybe more

any ideas?

/e he listed it only 3 days ago, so i thought maybe he just wanted quicker cash than eeebay could provide tho, but im worried some rando will get it first if i dont act soon!

those are shopping results for the same mode, only their cutaway and newer i believe, im not sure if that makes the more or less expensive though..

On eebay when a deal is too good to be true, it usually is. Since you get to see it and try it out before laying down the cash, I'd say go for it.
Drive out and give it a good playthrough, then asses wether or not you think its worth it.
I am not sure how much a crack would mean in an accoustic. He doesnt exactly state how bad they are.

old acoustics are great, even despite the wear and tear

but if you are spending this much on an acoustic might as well just get a nicer one IMO

Have him send you a couple close-ups of the crack in question. Finish cracks aren't a big deal but if it's through the top, you don't want that guitar. You will never be able to turn around and sell it; they are virtually worthless with a structural crack - especially on the top.

He said he had them professionally repaired. I would definatly talk to the guy and throughly inspect the guitar before actually buying it.
