so i was thinking of buying a new acoustic guitar, my current one has a neck width of: 1 and 11/16 inches

is this a full size guitar? i find it hard sometimes with certain bar chords and stretches because it seems to me almost as wide as a classical

i went to my local guitar store and saw some with smaller necks but i was wondering if that is a different type of guitar entirely?

and if anyone cares my guitar is Jasmine ES45C

thanks

i think urs is standard size.. even smaller than the fender. its weird though cuz they just add like 4-5 32nd's of an inch and it feels ALOT bigger because ur fingers end up missing thigns ur used to... the acoustic i have is the same as urs 1 and 11/16 inches, the fender electric is mor elike 1 and 13/16 inches

/e, i think if they go much smaller than 1 and 11/16's ppl with bubble fingers would end up muting alot of strings by accident :/

im still sort of new to guitar, but i feel like if your going with an acoustic, and you dont have like super fat fingers, 1 11/16's is about perfect. i could see going bigger on an electric beaucse it doesnt require as much pressure but, i like the 1 11/16th cuz its easier for me to mute strings if i want, esp like xx321x, and those further down the neck in the shape. Im trying to get this martin DX1 for christmas, but i do watn to go the store and play a few, because i think the shape of the neck has a big influence on how easy it is to fret as well. also, i like the smaller nut width, and smaller neck shape because its easier to do things like playing D/f# with ur thumb on the low e string.
