I'd do this. Real simple chords like C-G and maybe an F when you want to get fancy. Get a few buddies, like 6-10 to help ya and do somethin' like this:

You: Hey Baby
Buddies: Hey Baby
Y: What cha doin' on Thurday? (Or What ever the day of the prom)
B: Wonderin what cha doin?
Y: Hey Baby
B: Hey Baby
Y: Were you thinkin' bout goin' to the prom?
B: Cause I was and also thinkin'
Y: You're really cute, and I'm a studly brut and the two of us could be king and Queen of the ball.
B: Oooo's Aaaaa's in background.
Y: So Hey Baby.... ect

Probably not those words but that idea. A call and answer. Think Tom Cruise singing the Righteous Brothers in Top Gun meets Leavin on a midnight train to Georgia.

Oops. I must have misread this post. When he asked for a song idea to write that's short and sweet, I should have suggested a 6 minute song written by someone else about breaking up to show her that you know how to sing and play guitar.
