hey im writing a song for my guitar class
ive been playing actively for 2 years but mostly learning scales/chords/techniques and playing covers...never really done any writing besides improvising

anyways heres how it goes:

intro: G2 C D Dsus
verse1: E C G D Dsus
chorus: Am F G C C/B
Outro: G2 Cadd9 G2

i want to change up the Dsus --> Am from verse 1 to chorus, i feel like it just doesnt sound right...
i also want to add a bridge and more verses, and i need to make a solo.(what fret is the tone of G)

thanks and ANY feedback on here or youtube is appreciated!!

The reason the Dsus to Am sounds off is because you're actually changing keys from Em to Am and the Dsus sets you up to go back to a root of Em.

One thing I heard was on the fourth repetition of the verse you could go to C for 2 beats and then to E major or G major for 2 beats (The E major has a more exotic sound there but I think it sounds kinda cool). The reason for the E before the Am is it sets you up to expect the Am because, if you know some theory, that would be a V - i progression which is a strong progression while the Dsus doesn't set you up for a key change to Am. The G major is more or less just a substitution that does the same thing but may or may not be as effective.

That's just my take of course. Maybe you don't even want a key change and just want to stay in E minor/G major, idk.
