Need help with a couple of things. First off, I have a ZOOM G9.2tt, and I need help finding a good tone for this solo. The one I'm using right now is great for shredding and harsher songs like Killing in the Name, but just doesn't fit with the mood of Stairway.

Also, for the life of me I can't get the hammer-on pull-off part of the solo to sound right:

As far as I know I'm playing the notes correctly. I've even tried slowing down the original and playing along with it and it sounds fine, but when I get to 100% speed it just gets off. I can upload a recording if needed, but before I do that does anyone have any tips on this? Thanks.

lol - my first full song, and my first name too xDDDDDDDDD

Firstly - Just fiddle with the tone till you find something nice. Don't try and copy Jimmy Pages tone because you don't have a $4000 Gibson Les Paul xD
Secondly - Thats the part of the solo I struggle with too, never get it sounding the same, but I kinda just do my own timing on it to get the notes in the right position. Essentially, just get good at bending from 13-15 and down again from 15-13.

Also - You have practised exactly how I did lol - half speed then full speed. Crazy similar! :o

Haha thanks for the advice man. Got a pretty alright tone now (your sticky thread really helped me out - thanks). Working on getting the timing down. I can do it at 0.8x speed and almost at 0.9x, so I should have it down in a few more hours. Might post a recording later if I can nail the solo. Thanks again bro!

There are a lot of minor adjustments you got to make to your fingers to really master pull offs. I advise practicing Ac/Dc's back in black until you get it to sound exactly like it does on the album.

I know what you mean. I find lifting my index finger off the 13th fret during the time of the hammer on / pull off makes keeping the rhythm easier. I know this is pretty bad technique-wise though, so I'll eventually work on fixing it.

I managed to get a not too bad recording but my tone is kind of off. I figure I need to change my strings and mess around with the ZOOM for a while as well as fix a few sloppy mistakes. Lots of thanks to the people that helped! Here's a sample recording, I'll be sure to youtube a full thing once I get something I'm happy with.

Damn, that's really good. I was thinking "I can do better than him"... until you got to the bendy bit ie. the hardest part. you totally nailed it, nice job.

Thanks!

I was focusing so much on getting that part I think I made some easy mistakes on other parts. I'll try to upload a youtube video soon, just need to restring my guitar and find a good tone.
